ABOUT

About the Current Exhibit

The current exhibit is a small collection of works from 2020 to 2023.

The center piece of his exhibit are the Plumeria Bloom series (also referred to as frangipani). With several plants the size of small trees in his backyard, the daily unfurling of the large white blooms became a fascination he was compelled to capture. The originals are acrylic painted on hand cut board.

Other images in this exhibit are the Stone Crab and Lobster series. With bold strokes and natural colors, these images have become a favorite in the exhibit.

Additional images include the Seagrape series which present the changing plant colors after the grapes have fallen. The inspiration came from a large plant the artist passed daily when walking his English Springer Spaniel “Chester”. Chester can be seen in “Chester wants out” an 18” x 9.5” acrylic painting also in the exhibit.

About the Artist

Charles (Charlie) McShane is an artist/designer who began his art career at the age of 19 years old as a newspaper illustrator for the Clearwater Sun, and later became the Art Director of the Tampa Tribune at the age of 24.

As an artist willing to explore new mediums his work often included sculpture, 3D modeling, film work and computer graphics. At the age of 30 Charlie set up a commercial illustration & design studio in Tampa that blossomed to a 12 person creative house of writers, designers and illustrators.

From the Artist

I’ve built a successful business in a satisfying creative field. Now that my children are grown and starting families of their own, I can begin to expand my focus beyond the commercial creative endeavors and lean further into my love and appreciation for the creative, inspiring and romantic lure of fine art.  And, even though my personal work can often be more literal, I’ve always had a particular love for the impressionism and post-impressionism periods and venture to museums and collectors who hold works from such names as Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Vuillard and others.

Through encouragement from my contemporaries and a close circle of advisors (my family) I’ve decided to make a selection of my art and painting available in limited edition prints and canvas Giclées. Images will rotate out so visit this site often and feel free to leave me a comment on any pieces that moves you.

About Limited Edition Prints

All prints are expertly produced on thick, acid free, archival paper and then hand numbered, titled and signed by the artist.

About Limited Edition Giclées

Most prints on stretched canvas or archival paper come in standard sizes to help make selecting the perfect frame an easy choice. Canvas Giclees are professionally stretched over wooden canvas frames. Each canvas is then hand signed by the artist then sealed with varnish texture to enhance the color and brush strokes of the original.
